This month sees the culmination of one of my favourite side-projects I've been involved in this year. I got my favourite "review" as a result of it and even gained a few new colleagues too. I even gained a new catchphrase...Last year, I manned a fire exit at an event that even the organisers thought might not make it all! But the first ever Youthwork Summit was a great success. This year, when the opportunity presented itself, I signed up to help with the marketing of the eagerly-anticipated follow-up.
So, Laura, Sean & Simon from Youthwork Magazine helped form one of the more popular coalitions of recent years and fuelled by pizza and M&S snacks, we came up with a range of promotional ideas and light-hearted video content. It was some of the most enjoyable work I've ever been involved with - described by one tweeter as "cheerfully, gleeful insanity" - and my particular highlight was "parcelling" up Sean to post him to Manchester! In the past year, I've come to think of these guys as my colleagues-in-exile and I'm really looking forward to the Summit itself so we can get back to working together. We even get to spend the night before at the infamous "Summit funhouse" in the middle of Manchester (Can't wait!)
We've been there and bought the t-shirt (quite literally!) but now it gets really serious. The event is looming and there are still quite a few logistical question marks flying around but what we do know is that we'll be filming the Summit and getting behind-the-scenes footage and vox pops. So it looks like October 22nd is going to be a crazy day but remember... It all comes from here*
